Dryve Battery Materials Expands Global Patent Portfolio with Korean Patent for pCAM-Free Cathode Manufacturing Technology

Nova Scotia, Canada — October 14, 2026: Dryve Battery Materials Inc. (“Dryve”) today announced that it has been granted a foundational patent in the Republic of Korea covering its proprietary pCAM-free dry synthesis platform for manufacturing nickel-based cathode active materials.

This initial Korean patent expands Dryve’s global intellectual property portfolio, with foundational patents now granted across key battery manufacturing regions, including Japan (JP7504195B2), the United States (US12434978B2; US12378132B2), Europe (EP4021855B1; EP4021854B9), China (CN114341061B), and now Korea (KR103026703). These patents protect Dryve’s differentiated approach to cathode manufacturing: eliminating precursor cathode active materials (pCAM) and wet chemical processing to simplify the production of nickel-based cathode materials.

“This patent further strengthens the foundation of our technology platform in key jurisdictions as we advance toward commercialization,” said Dr. Chris Burns, Chief Executive Officer of Dryve Battery Materials. “Dryve has reinvented how nickel-based cathode materials are manufactured, eliminating complexity, cost, and environmental impact from the process while delivering high-performance materials competitive with those produced through traditional methods. By simplifying the manufacturing process, our technology creates a more scalable pathway for regional cathode production and more resilient battery supply chains.”

Conventional cathode manufacturing relies on complex wet chemical processing, significant infrastructure, and multiple intermediate steps that create cost, scalability, and permitting challenges. Dryve’s pCAM-free dry synthesis platform removes these barriers by eliminating the need for pCAM production while maintaining the high-performance characteristics required for advanced batteries.

Dryve’s technology has been demonstrated at pilot scale through its integrated 100-tonne-per-year facility in Nova Scotia, and the company is actively producing and sampling cathode materials to battery manufacturers, cathode producers, and automotive OEMs. Dryve’s materials have demonstrated electrochemical performance competitive with commercially available cathode materials and an independent engineering analysis completed by Hatch Ltd. validated the economic and environment advantages of Dryve’s process.

By eliminating pCAM production and reducing reliance on complex wet chemical infrastructure, Dryve’s technology lowers the barriers to establishing cathode manufacturing in regions where conventional production methods can be challenging to scale due to cost, infrastructure, and permitting requirements. The development of Dryve’s technology has been supported through collaborations with organizations including Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), and IcoNiChem.
