Building a Better Path for Cathode Manufacturing
Dryve Battery Materials is commercializing a patented, pCAM-free dry synthesis platform for lithium-ion cathode materials, enabling a more efficient, lower-cost, and scalable approach to cathode manufacturing.
Our technology enables the direct production of high-performance nickel-based cathode materials, including NMC, NCA, and LMR, without precursor cathode active materials (pCAM) or conventional wet chemical processing.
By eliminating intermediate steps, reducing energy consumption, and removing major waste streams, Dryve creates a simpler and more commercially deployable manufacturing pathway for battery producers, cathode manufacturers, and OEMs.
Validated at 100 tonnes per annum (tpa) pilot scale in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Dryve is built for industrial deployment and global partnership.
Built on Proven Battery Leadership
Dryve was founded by Dr. Chris Burns, a recognized leader in battery materials and advanced manufacturing with a track record of building and scaling battery businesses from early-stage innovation to global commercial execution.
In 2013, Dr. Burns founded Novonix Battery Technology Solutions (NBTS) in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, initially focused on proprietary ultra-high precision coulometry (UHPC) battery testing technology. The business expanded into pilot cell assembly, battery testing, and advanced R&D services supporting materials development and cell performance validation.
In 2017, NBTS was acquired by GraphiteCorp (ASX: GRA), later rebranded as Novonix Limited (ASX: NVX), while Novonix Anode Materials (NAM) was launched in Tennessee to produce battery-grade synthetic graphite.
Dr. Burns led NBTS, NAM, and later served as CEO of Novonix from 2020 to 2025.
In May 2026, Dr. Burns reacquired the original NBTS platform to establish two focused businesses, one dedicated to battery technology services, and Dryve Battery Materials, focused on transforming cathode manufacturing through patented dry synthesis and scalable process innovation.
Engage with Dryve to commercialize a new model for cathode production.
We partner with battery manufacturers, OEMs, and investors to unlock scalable deployment of our platform through:
- Technology access and licensing opportunities
- Cathode material production and commercial supply
- Collaborative product development and sampling
- Process engineering and scale-up from pilot to industrial deployment
